A still shows a state, an animation shows a process. Wherever the advantage of your product sits in a movement, in how two parts work together or in a sequence, a photograph simply cannot explain it. That is exactly where animation starts to pay for itself.
There is a side effect worth having: language. A well built animation needs no voiceover, because the movement does the explaining. Which means the same film runs at a fair in Milan, in a sales meeting in Warsaw and on the website, without a single version being reproduced.
