A product film built in 3D does two things a camera cannot. It shows the inside of a closed housing, and it shows a product that has not been built yet. That is why most of these films are made long before the first prototype exists, for trade fairs, sales meetings and investor rounds.
The second strength is repeatability. Once the model is built, another variant, a different colour or a second language version costs a fraction of the first film. For a product family that usually pays for itself by the third video.
