Packaging rendering.
The pack pictured before the press runs. And the whole shelf with it, so you can see whether it still stands out among the others.

With new packaging the order of events is wrong. The images are needed for the listing meeting with the retailer, and that happens months before production starts. There is no real sample at that point, or there is a hand made one off the cutting plotter with visible glue edges that you would rather not show anybody. So the flat artwork goes into a presentation and the buyer has to imagine the pack.
From that same artwork I build the pack as an object with the material it will actually have, board, film, varnish or embossing. After that everything is available that would previously have needed a sample. The pack on its own, six of them in a display, the shelf with the competition beside it, and if a second colourway comes up in the meeting it is there the next day instead of in three weeks.
