Regatta photographer.
Start, windward mark, spinnaker leg and finish. From the chase boat and from the air. Images that can go online the same evening.

A regatta has three places where something happens and they are a long way apart. The start is tension and proximity, the windward mark is chaos and contact, the spinnaker leg is colour and speed. A photographer anchored in the wrong place has a lovely day on the water and little to show.
So I work from the mark layer or my own chase boat and know in advance where the course is and when each class starts. For sponsors there is a further point: their logo has to be in frame, and that is decided by which side you shoot from. I plan that beforehand as well, not on the water.
