The Dutch yards deliver a large share of the world’s biggest yachts, and much of the supply industry sits within an hour of Amsterdam. The work here is mostly documentation: a hull moving, a refit progressing, a delivery leaving through the locks, all of it for an audience that reads technical detail.
The IJ gives a city backdrop for the finished boat and the canals give scale for smaller ones. Airspace over Schiphol is tightly controlled and much of the region sits under it, so any flight is cleared first and the rest is shot from the water.
