Curaçao lies far enough south that hurricane season barely matters here. Boats therefore stay through the summer, and Spanish Water is one of the safest anchorages in the Caribbean. For filming that means a cruising ground that works twelve months a year rather than five.
The backdrop is what sets Curaçao apart from every other island. The row of houses in Willemstad with its floating pontoon bridge reads like Amsterdam in the Caribbean, and a boat in front of it is placed instantly. Out at Klein Curaçao there is nothing again but water, sand and an old light.
