Heiligenhafen holds more boats on one pontoon field than most German harbours together, and the dealers have their fleets right beside it. For a shooting day that is the best starting point in the country: many boats, short distances, and nothing has to be moved.
Outside it gets shallow. Fehmarn Sound and the edge off the Graswarder are only a few metres deep in places, which from above produces the pale bands this corner is known for. In an easterly, though, a short steep sea builds quickly, and a running shot turns into a shaking exercise.
