Mandraki puts boats directly under the walls of a medieval town, which no other Greek base offers. It is a small harbour and a busy one, so the picture everyone wants is shot from the water at first light, before the day boats leave.
Symi is the day trip and the best material of the week: the amphitheatre of ochre houses around the port, reachable in under two hours. The meltemi is weaker here than in the Cyclades, which makes Rhodes one of the more reliable islands to plan a shoot on.
