The Trave runs from the city harbour in Lübeck down to the Baltic, and in those last kilometres everything sits together: marinas, yards, the Scandinavian ferries and, as a landmark, the Passat at Priwall. A boat in front of that four master is a picture that lands immediately in northern Germany.
Traffic on the river is heavy, though, and much of it is ferries with right of way. Running shots therefore work better outside the mole than in the river itself. At the end of July the Travemünder Woche runs, and for a few days there is no room on the water for quiet work.
