Dutch yards and marine suppliers sell far beyond their own harbour, and most of their buyers never see the part in person. From Sneek and Drachten to Rotterdam, the first impression of a product is a picture in a catalogue or on a dealer portal. Where that picture is a rendering, it shows every variant in the same light, with no sample built and nothing crated up for a photo studio.
The calendar makes winter the time for it. METSTRADE lands in Amsterdam in November and the spring catalogues go to print straight after, so the images have to exist long before the first part comes off the line. A rendering is built from engineering data, which means it can be finished while the product is still a drawing.
