Cascais is one of the most reliable racing venues in Europe: an afternoon thermal that fills in almost on schedule, deep water close to shore and a natural amphitheatre of cliffs behind the course. For a photographer that combination is rare, because it means you can plan a shoot for a specific hour and be right.
The Atlantic also gives you something the Mediterranean cannot: real swell. A boat working through Atlantic water looks like it is doing something, and that difference is obvious in a listing. I work with owners, clubs and yards from Porto down to the Algarve, and out to Madeira when a trip justifies it.
