For large yachts the Cayman Islands are mainly a registry, and a great many hulls carry George Town on the transom without ever having been there. Anyone who does come finds no deep harbour: the big units lie at anchor off the coast, and the shot is made from the tender.
North Sound is shallow, bright and protected by a reef, so the water stays calm there even in the trade wind. Off George Town cruise ships sit at anchor almost every day and therefore in the frame, which puts the usable hours early in the morning or late, once they have left.
