Between April and October more large yachts sit within forty kilometres of Antibes than anywhere else in Europe. The film work that comes out of that is rarely planned weeks ahead. A captain calls on Tuesday because the owner leaves Wednesday and the next charter boards Saturday.
That gap is the whole job. Being able to be there on the day a berth and a crew happen to be free decides whether the film exists at all. Add the show week in September, when the same boats and the people who charter them are in one harbour, and a film shot beforehand does more than any stand.
