The Stockholm archipelago is roughly thirty thousand islands, which is a photographic problem as much as a gift: without local knowledge you spend the day motoring between rocks that all look alike. Picking three or four backdrops in advance and building the day around the wind direction is what makes the difference.
On the west coast Marstrand gives you the opposite: hard, tight racing against a granite backdrop, and a fleet that is used to being photographed. I work with owners, clubs and yards on both sides, and in summer the long northern light stretches the usable day far past what a shoot further south allows.
