Superyacht photographer, Italy.
Porto Cervo, Viareggio, Naples, Portofino and Trieste. The country that builds them, which means photographing them before they float.
Send an enquiry →In Italy the yard is the client
Italy is different from every other superyacht market because the boats are built here. In Palma or Antibes a photographer works for a broker selling a used yacht; in Viareggio, Ancona or Naples the client is usually the yard, and the job is to document a new build from the shed through launch to sea trials.
That is a different discipline. In the shed there is no daylight and no water, just scaffolding and a hull with the paint still masked, and the pictures are for the owner and the press rather than for a listing. Then comes the launch, which happens once and at an hour somebody else decides. And finally sea trials, which are the only chance to get the boat under way before she is handed over and disappears. Miss one of the three and it does not come back.
